The Bubbaroo Joey Swag Baby Sleeping Bag

Since beginning our sleep diary with Bubbaroo we have been using the Joey Swag baby sleeping bags. –  I particularly love the quirky name of the Joey Swag. In Australia, a swag is a term used to describe a portable sleeping unit or a bundle of belongings, and of course a Joey is a baby Kangaroo. Pretty clever, huh?

Bubbaroo is a an Australia brand created by mum of two Nicole, selling an extensive range of boutique baby sleepwear Nicole grew Bubbaroo based on her own experiences as a mother.

I’ve always been paranoid that Taylor would pull a blanket over his face whilst asleep and opted for sleeping bags as a result of this. – Having used numerous brands of baby sleeping bags from supermarket own brands to popular baby brands I’ve found the Joey Swag to boast more features than all rolled into one whilst complying to British Standard BS 8510:2009 Safety standards.

My favourite feature, which may seem small, is the ability to use the Joey Swag with a 3 or 5 point harness. A feature as simple as a velcro opening in the back, allowing a buckle to be pushed into the sleeping bag, gives you the ability to use the sleeping bag on prams and car seats without compromising on safety.

Theirs nothing worse than getting home late and having to move a baby from their car seat to their bed whilst attempting to put them into a sleeping bag. The ability to put little ones in their sleeping bag before you set off makes this a much smoother transition!  The two-way zipper system also allows for easy nappy changes.

We started using the 1.0 tog bags which are light weight and perfect for cooler weather. As winter drew nearer and Taylor’s bedroom was dropping in temperature we moved onto the 2.5 tog Joey Swag which provided more warmth on chilly nights. Upon changing to a higher tog we immediately saw a difference and our routine took effect once again.

The Joey Swag comes with a temperature guide and handy door hanger so you know which tog you require, getting the tog correct really does make a difference. Taylor now sleeps 7:00pm – 6:00am in the Joey Swag, amazing considering he previously slept 10:00pm – 5:00am with an average of 3 wake ups a night.

The Joey Swag looks and feels like a high quality product and has contributed greatly to our new routine. Taylor knows it’s bed time when he’s put into his bag and will happily sit in it whilst we go through our routine. We wouldn’t be without it!

The Bubbaroo Joey Swag bags start at £24.95 for a lightweight tog bag and go up to a 3.5 tog, available in a  range of colours the Joey Swag bags can be purchased on the Bubbaroo website

  • Oh I like this so much I also used a sleeping bag when my baby was younger, and it worked out to be the best option. I always give them as gifts now to new mothers #MarvMondays

I was told at my antenatal classes not to use them but she had absolutely so reasons as to why, nothing safety related I think it was just her preference. I’m too scared to leave a baby with a blanket they can potentially pull over themselves though! Xx

  • Joanna

We love sleeping bags as Blake use to pull off his blanket.
I’ve not heard of this brand before though.

    • Lisa – LeeLeeLoves

They’re an Australian brand, the products are really lovely and nice quality. x

  • Angela Milnes

I love sleep bags! We used to use these with the babies at the children’s centre I worked at years ago! They are fab! Angela from Daysinbed

    • Lisa – LeeLeeLoves

They are! I’m too scared to use blankets. Seriously paranoid mother haha. x

  • I’m a big fan of baby sleeping bags as they really helped Tyler sleep as a baba, but to add a way that makes it usable with a car seat or pushchair – that is genius! I’ll keep the Joey Swag in mind for my baby no. 2! Sabrina x

    • Lisa – LeeLeeLoves

It is pretty much my favourite feature! We have other sleeping bags we use and they work just as well but none of them do this! The amount of times we’ve left relatives houses late and had to maneuver him into bed, it’s much easier with this 🙂 x

  • First of all, (you’re probably sick of hearing this but) Taylor seems like the happiest baby in the world! What a smile! This sleeping bag looks like a very solid investment due to it’s versatility and handy zippers. Great find!

    • Lisa – LeeLeeLoves

Thank you! Just remember we’re good at sharing the ‘happy’ moments. Goodness me this kid can scream and pull a wicked sad face to wrap you around his little finger haha. Xx

  • Eve Redmond

This looks brilliant! Love the car seat too!

  • Cliona Kelliher

Sleeping bags are such a great idea, I used them when my youngest was little because she was a demon for kicking off covers and then would wake when she got cold so the sleeping bag was the perfect solution! Love your pics too 🙂

    • Lisa – LeeLeeLoves

They’re great, I don’t know what I’ll do when he’s too big for them! These ones are super long though 🙂 x

  • He looks so cute in his sleep bag. We used them too – I swear they helped N sleep better. And no kicking off covers

    • Lisa – LeeLeeLoves

If I used blanket I imagine he’s freeze and I’d not sleep for fear of it being wrapped around his head. The bags are brilliant 🙂 x

  • Zena’s Suitcase

I love the name too! And they look really practical too. You need as much help as you can get when it comes to nappy changes with a sleepy child.

  • Hello Archie • blog

Love this! Sleeping bags were so so important to us when Archie was younger as I worried sick about the blankets going over his head. They look so practical. Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays! Kaye xo
