Reading with the Tidy Books bookcase

Books are something I have always loved, the feeling of fresh crisp pages and the scent of printers ink. Reading is a great way for me to wind down and relax. Something I knew I wanted to share with my children, should I be fortunate enough to have any.

When I found out I was pregnant with Taylor it wasn’t little booties and vests I was looking forward to buying. It was books. Before Taylor owned any clothing he had the complete works of Dr Seuss. Curling up with my newborn baby and reading to him was something I had imagined over and over. I even read to him in utero.

A year and half later we have managed to accumulate quite the collection of picture books. Taylor is sent books from publishers for us to review, and I still can’t help but pick one up if we’re near a book store. We’re spoilt for choice.

In an attempt to create the perfect reading space we began searching for a child friendly book case. Something that was going to last the test of time, whilst encouraging Taylor to interact with his books.

Then we came across Tidy Books, Who sent Taylor his own personalised book case. It ticked all the boxes I was looking for in a bookcase and we could not be happier with it.

Retailing at £169 for a large personalised bookcase, you can choose the colour of both the bookcase and any personalisation.

We chose to have Taylor’s name in grey and orange letters. Colours that compliment a lot of his bedroom accessories.

It was simple for me to put together, and took around 30 minutes. It also comes with the option to wall mount it for safety, which I recommend you do.

The bookcase is a lot larger than I had expected, which is a good thing, as we have a lot of books. It’s sturdy and slimline taking up little floor space, and is going to last throughout childhood.

When compared to a generic bookcase you can see why the Tidy Books bookcase works so well for children.

The Tidy Books Bookcase displays books front facing so children can see the covers. Displaying books in such a way encourages children to interact with ease and see more. This clever design allows little hands to reach out and choose their desired story. Which Taylor loves!

The bookcase has become a focal point in the room encouraging and inviting Taylor to play with his books. He will sit playing with books by himself and loves the ability to choose his own book at bed time.

The one thing I can’t control with our Tidy Books Bookcase is the order in which he keeps his books. I’m learning to live with Taylor’s preference. Any size, any shelf, anywhere. A far cry from my own orderly book shelves.

Our new bookcase has already begun to play a big part in our daily routine. Especially at bed time where we implement bath, book, bed. Something we’re going to be talking about in more detail.

Right now Taylor loves the Dino Poop books, they even make mummy laugh. He also has a copy of Foxes Socks which he sits with each day, he’s torn the flaps off of it and he reads it upside down.

What are your little one’s favourite books? Tell us in the comments below, we love a good book!

Such a beautiful book case! It’s perfect for storing all your kids books – and so stylish x

  • That bookcase looks amazing and i love the fact it’s been personalised with Taylor’s name. It looks modern, durable and sturdy which is vital when you’ve got mischievous little people around. Great selection of books too – Foxes Socks is one of our favourites as well! xx

  • What a beautiful book case. It certainly does keep them tidy and make them look neat. So lovely that it’s been personalised for Taylor too. Lovely review. We’ve had a couple of Foxes Socks books as the first one was destroyed by little hands, they really love it now they’re older and don’t try and tear off the flaps.

That little library is fabulous, book shelf envy haha. At present our favourite book is David Walliams the elephant book, can’t remember the name of it for the life of me.

  • Little man loves reading! He has a Tidy Books bookcase and we find it so convenient!

I am a huge book fan too and have hundreds of books. I too always wanted to pass on my love of reading to my children and thankfully my three year old seems to love books as much as I do. I love the look of this book case, I think I need something like this for Sophia’s book collection when we move x
