I cannot describe how shocked I was to see that my little piece of the internet has found itself in the finals of The MAD Blog Awards, this has truly brightened up a rather difficult week and we wouldn’t be here without you, the readers!
We’re in the finals for the Pregnancy category, if you nominated us thank you so much, I’m still shocked and stunned that we’re listed amongst so many great blogs, many of which I myself read for guidance during my pregnancy.
When I found out I was pregnant my little book blog soon transpired into a place to document everything relating to my pregnancy, from announcing the news, sharing the gender, packing my bags and discussing my fears. It all went here. I loved being able to sit down each evening resting the laptop on my little bump and sharing the journey with the world.
I remember taking my 39 week update pictures and feeling so nervous about what was to come, as a first time mum I had no idea what to expect, so I like to think my journey was easy for other first time mums-to-be to relate to. I had nothing to compare it to, I was winging it. And now that little bump is five months old! Where has the time gone?
We spent New Years Eve watching fireworks from our bedroom window at midnight as I breathed through contractions, I didn’t get the birth I had planned, instead I spent it strapped to a monitor on a bed, instead of in a pool with twinkling lights overhead. I did however have the many Hypnobirthing techniques I had learnt from The Calm Birth School and am still able to look back on the day as one of pure happiness.
I’d like to think having shared our journey and experiences to date may have helped others just as reading parenting blogs has done for me.
Being a finalists in The MAD Blog Awards is amazing, I hadn’t for one moment thought I would be in the top 6 of any category so to come this far is a brilliant achievement within itself and means a lot, thank you to all those who nominated us.
