Sound asleep with my first duvet from Frugi #FrugiFamily

Of all the milestones Taylor has achieved over the last 19 months, I never thought giving him a duvet would seem so big. Or that I would see it as a milestone in the first place. It’s not as monumental as taking those first steps or saying his first word but it feels like a big moment. Having always used sleeping bags and lay him down to sleep in an empty cot a duvet seemed scary. He’s so small and a duvet looks so big!

It recently became clear that Taylor was attempting to scale the side of his cot. He hasn’t made it over yet but it’s only a matter of time. I thought his sleeping bag would prevent this, then realised it seemed to enhance the danger. If he were to go over he’d be trapped in his sleeping bag, surely that would make the fall worse?

Before being a parent a duvet was a duvet, now it’s another thing to terrify me. Duvets are safe from 1 year so it’s perfectly fine for him to have one, I just worry way too much.

When we were sent a lovely bedding set to try from Frugi, I still hadn’t decided if the time was right to try a duvet with him. I decided to wait a couple more months and see how I felt about it. The Frugi print may have swayed me because two months later it’s in his cot and he loves it.  For the few hours he decides to stay asleep in his own room at least. Taylor is now 20 months old and a duvet isn’t a threat to him, it’s a cosy snuggly blanket that helps him to sleep better. Guidelines suggest a toddler duvet and pillow is safe for sleep from around 1 year onwards but it’s entirely up to you if you wait, just like I did.

The bright bold Sunny Days print from Frugi looks great in Taylors bedroom. It’s grown up when compared to his ‘baby’ themed nursery but still fun. It’s bright, bold, and colourful. You can’t beat clouds or rainbows…  I imagine it’s going to look even better once we convert his cot into an adorable little bed.

The Frugi toddler cot bedding set also comes with a pillow case. Although as I was so nervous about a duvet I haven’t yet taken the plunge to give him a pillow too. Overall the set looks and feels like it’s good quality, just like all the other Frugi we own. It’s made from organic cotton with easy to fasten buttons on the opening, it’s easy to put on and washes well. We’re yet to find a Frugi product we don’t like.Frugi are a brand we love and trust, I may have become a little obsessed with collecting their gorgeous prints, from clouds to ducks and dinosaurs who can blame me?

The Frugi Cot Bedding sets retail at RRP£49, made from chemical free organic cotton and they’re reversible too! You can see a range of prints and bedding sizes on their website here.

Taylor has taken to having a duvet really well. He loves to snuggle up in it, play peepo with it and best of all, sleep with it!

How old were your little one when they got their first duvet? Did you feel like it was a big deal or weren’t you bothered by it?

I think Lizzie has a duvet at this age but I have held off with George just because he wriggles so much. That bedding looks so lovely though and it seems like a good excuse for a decor change 😉
