My pre+ post pregnancy skincare routine with UNITY Beauty!

Having gone through the skin stretching of pregnancy once before I knew I needed to be taking care of my skin from the moment I fell pregnant.

I wasn’t expecting to come out the other side unscathed, I was still expecting the odd few stretch marks. Unlike last time. During my first pregnancy, I thought my skincare routine meant I’d been one of the lucky ones…

I believed I was stretch-mark free.

I was one those ladies without any physical signs of having produced a mini-human imprinted on them for life.

You can imagine how surprised I was when they appeared AFTER having the baby. That’s right. There weren’t many but they were there! Those fine lines around my belly button and hips from having carried our first born for 9 months.

Throughout my pregnancy with Harriet, I used UNITY Beauty Essentials. This time around I was more concerned with keeping my skin hydrated.

I was entering into this already sporting stretch marks and they weren’t going anywhere. Both during and after my pregnancy with Taylor I experienced dry skin around my tummy and upper arms. It never felt nice, it was itchy. Pregnant tummies feel stretched and itchy without being dry, so I wanted to keep my skin as hydrated as possible.

I used the UNITY Daily Body Hydrator which prevents skin dehydration that occurs during and post-pregnancy. It’s a lightweight serum that cools and refreshes the skin. As it’s non-greasy I even applied it my face, it left me feeling refreshed and energised and my skin felt amazing and wasn’t dry. Baring in mind I’ve had yet another winter baby, I would usually have dry skin on my face this time of year regardless of being pregnant. I loved that I could quickly apply this to my face before rushing out to toddler group with Taylor.

Having a 3-year-old to chase after means you don’t have much time to dedicate to skincare.

The UNITY Beauty Essentials range is like a tall glass of water for your skin. And almost 3 months post-partum I’m still using them, breastfeeding can really dehydrate your skin, and I’m still turning to UNITY to keep my skin feeling it’s best.

For my night routine, I used UNITY Intensive Body Nourisher. A Rich, buttery cream that can be massaged into the skin. Made from Indian Gooseberry extract, mango seed butter, shea butter and sweet almond oil.

I applied UNITY Intensive Body Nourisher to my bump each night before bed. It took away that irritating itch leaving me to concentrate on sleeping rather than how uncomfortable I was feeling!

Now our little one is here I’m using the Intensive Body Nourisher on my upper arms. Breastfeeding seems to have affected this area and the rich hydrating consistency of this cream has helped restore my skin.
With prices starting from £25 UNITY is a high-end luxury range compared to other bump creams, but it works. I’ve never had healthier more hydrated skin. I also love that they’re free from mineral oil, petrolatum, parabens, phthalates, sulphates, DEA, Phenoxyethanol, retinol/retinoids, BHA/BHT and gluten.

They’re also Vegan-friendly and not tested on animals. This means they’re perfect for pretty much everyone! A great gift for those expectant mums in your life, or a luxury treat for yourself. Because you and your bump deserve the best!
