Since last week when Taylor moved onto self settling we’ve had some brilliant nights of sleep. I went to work yesterday feeling so good! Their have been a few nights where he has been unsettled or woke a few times but that’s to be expected, babies do wake up from time to time! It’s like Bubbaroo and Infant Sleep Consultants have cast a magic spell over bed time!
Night #1 Our existing routine of playing after dinner wasn’t helping in the process of winding down before bed. I decided to try a new routine and see how it helped. We put Taylor in his sleepsuit and Joey Swag Sleeping Bag straight after Dinner at 6:15pm then took him into our bedroom to watch a children’s programme in the dark and read a story. He was then breastfed and placed in his cot at 6:50pm and slept through!!
Taylor went to sleep really well last night, we’ve changed his routine to settle him earlier, it’s working a treat! #BubbarooBabySleepDiary

Night #2 I repeated last nights routine and Taylor went to sleep without any trouble. This is the 3rd night he has gone in his cot completely awake without kicking up a storm when breastfeeding has stopped. I’m certainly seeing results from the changes we’ve been putting into place and hoping it continues. Night #3 Another night of being in bed and asleep by 7:00pm, I’ve gained two hours a night of baby-free time! We had one wake up around 2:00am where I was too tired to think about tweeting but he went back to sleep quite quickly.
Taylor has been asleep since 7:00pm again, so proud! @Bubbaroo #BubbarooBabySleepDiary https://t.co/L5HbUZh5oY — Lisa LeeLeeLovesBlog (@LeeLee_Loves) November 12, 2015
Night #4 No wake up’s tonight! Taylor woke up really happy, I love going into his room of a morning to his cheeky smile… and weird moments like this!
Taylor keeps crying out loud in his sleep, I’m waking to check on him and he’s actually asleep. Maybe he’s dreaming? #BubbarooBabySleepDiary — Lisa LeeLeeLovesBlog (@LeeLee_Loves) November 19, 2015
Night #5 Taylor went to bed a little later last night and our routine was disturbed for numerous reasons. I definitely saw the knock on effect of this! He cried out a lot in his sleep and woke at 4:50, I was able to settle him back to sleep but then he woke for the day at 6:45am. We have a busy day ahead and after a week of relatively good sleep I’m feeling the effects of last night!
BREAKING NEWS – We’ve also had day time naps in the cot! I had a hot drink and time to work!
I took to Instagram to shout about the news – “This is a first, Taylor’s having a nap in his cot! I’m in the office writing with a scorching cup of tea. 😍”
Overall I think we’ve had a fantastic week, I’ve learnt to avoid straying from the routine at all costs, even a small change can disturb a routine we’ve worked so hard to implement.
Taylor is getting really good at self settling, it’s strange placing him in his cot awake and leaving the room. I miss those extra cuddles but feel such immense pride when I watch him on the monitor drifting off by himself.
Have you got any magic tricks you use to settle your little ones at bed time? I would love to hear about them! x
