This month T has been trying out the The Fisher-Price Newborn-to-Toddler Play Gym another fantastic product adding to our love for Fisher-Price as a brand and their baby products. It’s easy to build, great to look at and best of all baby T loves it! He’s officially a leg kicking toy touching master who loves to gurgle away on this great play mat.
This baby gym is extremely simple to build compared to others I have had the pleasure of tackling! You simply click the arch on top of the very cute Zebra and Giraffe sides, attach the additional swinging toys and clip on the base mat. Easy!
Whats in the box:
– Pre-built toy arch
– Zebra & Giraffe legs
– Two detachable swinging toys
– 5 play balls
– Clip on base mat
The gym requires also 3 AAA batteries which are not included.
The mat feels soft and comfortable and is machine washable, which is a must for the amount of milk this boy likes to bring up! Taylor loves lying on the mat and listening to the music whilst attempting to touch the toys that dangle above him. He’s still figuring out that the movements make more sounds and has a surprised look every time this happens, it’s really rather cute.
So far Taylor loves the baby gym and it’s encouraging him to reach out and use his hands more, which he rarely does! It’s going to be a great way to develop his fine motor skills, gross motor skills, balance & coordination.
I’ve also used the mat for tummy time, he hates tummy time. Taylor would rather lye there like a seal with his arms by his side, rubbing his face into the ground whilst shouting… but practice makes perfect, right? I’m hoping more use of the gym and mat will encourage him to build up the strength in his arms and neck as much as it has encourages him to reach out and hold objects. Since using the baby gym he has been holding onto his stuffed animals and showing more interested in everyday objects.
The great thing about this gym is that it grows with baby, so it’s not obsolete once they’re sitting or standing, it turns into a sitting play gym with pockets on the underside of the mat and also has the ball track over the arch which toddlers love, Taylor’s cousin Matilda came to visit and loved playing with this feature! I especially love this as we don’t have any toys suitable for her when she visits and she seemed to really enjoyed this.
