Documenting our days the easy way, with Skwibble

Let me introduce you to Skwibble. An app that lets you log those daily moments and store memories of your little one at your fingertips. Having been that first-time mummy who bought more than one baby record book, and failed to complete even one, I know it’s not easy to keep up.

We start with the best of intentions, saving cute pieces of memorabilia from hospital bands to the first curl. I even kept the little plastic thing they use for the heel prick test, really. I kept it all. I’m pretty sure there is a crusty cord clamp somewhere too. Was I meant to wash that?

What I didn’t do was documenting, not properly. Finding the time once the baby becomes more demanding isn’t easy. Because we all know the first 3 months when they’re pretty chilled you’re watching Netflix or listening to podcasts. Not writing in baby books. No, you’re not. I wasn’t anyway. I watched Gossip Girl, all of it. Time well spent.

Anyway. Skwibble allows you to jot down a few words and upload a picture in seconds. I’ve found myself making note of more things than ever, from us baking a cake to Little Fox having a hair cut. It’s all there and I’m able to do this within minutes. Before I go to sleep,I’ll pause for a moment and think, what did Little Fox do today? Aside from having 55 tantrums, what did we do? And make a little note of it. Sorted.

The advantage of a digital memory book is that it can be shared. I’m able to invite others to use the app by creating ‘playpens’. This allows grandparents and friends to view our daily ventures. Or I can add people such as his Daddy to contribute to our photo journal keeping everything in one place. I haven’t gotten around to this yet, but I’ll try it out eventually.

Once you’ve added enough content, you can turn your memories into a personalised Story book.

I’m now able to look back on our little memories with ease. And can stop beating myself up about the stack of incomplete baby books I spent a small fortune on. Will I ever finish them now that I have Skwibble in my palm? Probably not.

For all of you new parents out there, put down the washi-tape and rainbow pens, stop stressing. Just search for Skwibble in the app store on ios or android and try it out for yourself. It’s free! And then you can resume spending maternity leave with Netflix and not feel guilty about it.
