How to buy gifts for children, without losing your mind!

If like myself buying gifts for children makes you want to bang your head against a wall you’re not alone. I can rack up hours searching google for answers whenever a Birthday approaches. It never ends well and I always winging  it whilst hoping for the best.

Before having a child of my own I found buying presents for children to be an absolute minefield. Things I thought an 8 year old might enjoy were more suited to a 4 year old. My perception of what each age group and gender would appreciate or enjoy was all wrong.

Even now, a year into parenting I’m still learning which toys are suitable for which age. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t googling what to buy for a 1st Birthday and a 1st Christmas back in December. It’s hard!

In a bid to help solve the problem Wicked Uncle asked us if we’d like to try their website. A gift buying site aimed at helping people find the perfect gift. Just what I need in my life!

Did we find it useful?

Finding a gift via their website was simple. You specify what you’re looking for based on age or gender, or both. Then choose from a selection of suitable gifts. I submitted Taylor’s age, gender and a budget which gave me a great selection of toys to choose from. We particularity love traditional wooden toys and found a nice selection of these within our search criteria.

So, what did I choose?

I selected the Hape Pound n Tap Bench for £29.95 which we love! It’s a multitude of toys all rolled into one. It’s a xylophone,  a hammer, a ball track the possibilities are endless. You can even have a mini game of crochet with it.

This toy has provided so many hours of fun in our house. Taylor loves anything with a ball. He’ll happily sit and play with just the 3 wooden balls. His face lights up when they twinkle their way down the xylophone making a melody. That is after he’s pounded them with a hammer, in a way more violent than I knew possible for a 1 year old.

I also chose the Janod Magnetic Stacking Rocket for £16.95. A cute little wooden rocket that is handy to take out and about with us for entertaining Taylor. I love all things space so the Rocket was a must as soon as saw it and looks great on his shelf when not in use.

I found the selection available had something for everyone from soft toys to wooden toys. It was easy to use and I was ready to check out in under 20 minutes. In comparison to my usual 3 hours googleathon this was perfect!

You can also choose to have your items gift wrapped alongside a card, written by elves! 😉

The website was easy to use and choose a gift, check out was also simple which I like, and delivery is fast. Overall if you’re stuck in a rut when buying gifts for Children then Wicked Uncle is a super fast and convenient way to find gifts they’ll love without any hassle or time wasting. Super!

Disclosure; We were sent a voucher to contribute towards these items and test the gift buying experience, all opinions are honest and our own.
