The Year of The House
This year saw us make a huge decision. One that was going to change our lives for the better, but not before it got just a little bit worse.
After a horrendous winter with no heating or hot water for eight weeks, a useless letting agent and a cold baby. We decided to move out. Putting most of our possessions and furniture into storage we went to stay with family. And we’re still there.
That’s right, we took ourselves and our baby to stay with relatives, that’s the bad bit. After having your own space as a family it’s hard to adapt to such a big change. Living with no heating and water wasn’t an option. The lack of care provided by our useless letting agent, L4A Residential Lettings if you’re interested, wasn’t acceptable.
Also, our lovely neighbour 2 doors down, Mark Taylor, a chatty man with guinea pigs and a tendency to shout at himself in the street. Well, it turns out he was our Landlord. For over two years. Who knew? Not us. Did he fix our heating? No.
So, we’re making the best of a bad situation. We’ve taken this as an opportunity to get together our deposit to buy a house and plan for our family’s future. This is ‘The Year of The House’ our chance to buy a family home for Tails to grow up in.
A house we can make a home. Finally the opportunity to make our mark on a place. Paint the walls in Laura Ashley, put a smeg fridge in the kitchen, lay fluffy carpets and make memories.
The chance to give Taylor the perfect bedroom. Hang pictures, buy a fitted black out blind from VELUX, he is sleeping so badly right now with the day light, and we can create a play room!
We’re looking to buy a new build house and are currently waiting for plots to become available. When this happens we have our money ready to reserve our first family home. I’m becoming impatient waiting but know it will all be worth it in the end.
When we reserve our house I’ll be sharing each step right here, from choosing our tiles to moving in day. I can’t wait!
If you’ve ever purchased a new build house I’d love to hear your stories, good & bad! Xx
