When Little Fox and I received an invite to the new Thorntons Cafe store at Intu Derby, we didn’t need to think twice about saying yes! It is chocolate after all.
The new concept store opened on November 2nd. And is the first of it’s kind boasting it’s own in-store chocolatier on hand making new chocolate creations at the Craftery. Everything made within the store is available to purchase, these will change every few weeks to ensure there is always a variety of products within the store. This also features a constant stream of flowing chocolate. Little Fox was entranced by this and asked to “lick the bowl” he’d have put his head in there if he could get to it.
Upon entering the store you’re greeted with an array of beautiful chocolates and a stand for personalisation. The lovely ladies created a personalised chocolate for Little Fox with his name and red car. Which he loved!
With new and exclusive items on the menu, including handcrafted ice cream sundaes, hot chocolates, and tempting desserts such as Salted Caramel Praline Torte, Alpini Cake and Triple Mousse Brownies it’s the perfect place for any chocolate lover. It would have been impossible to choose just one.
Thankfully we didn’t have to as we tried a selection of the new desserts, and my goodness we loved them all! When you invite a pregnant lady and a 2-year-old to try chocolate you know they’re going to try it all!
The café area was cosy and welcoming. Little Fox enjoyed it so much he didn’t want to leave, not once he’d set himself up with a milkshake and took his shoes off. He really did feel at home.
Overall the store has a very inviting look and feel, it’s cosy and warm and the perfect place to enjoy a family treat. Or of course a relaxing child-free outing, I could easily curl up on those sofas with a good book and hot chocolate.
If you’re ever in the area pop into Thorntons and experience it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
