Toddler testing the Smartrike T3 Scooter with a 2 year old

I never thought I’d be so thankful for a scooter – If you’ve ever spent a day trapped indoors with a two year old you’ll know how important getting outside is. Not just for them, but for you. And your sanity.

After 20 requests for a biscuit, milk, or to watch “dogs” we need to get out of the house. Toddlers don’t entertain themselves, not for long anyway. I find going outside is good for us all.

We’ve always enjoyed walks out with Taylor’s Smartrike, it’s my go to activity if we need a little fresh air. Although that see’s me getting exercise, while Taylor sits like royalty as he’s pushed. He’s still too short to ride it himself.

That was until we introduced him to the Smartrike T3 Scooter. It has the same robust build quality of the trike and the ability to grow with Taylor. Which is what I love about this brand. Smartrike products generally last and see children go from beginner through to independent user.

The SmarTrike T3 scooter for ages 2+ has the following features –

  • Two-modes – beginner and advanced
  • Tilting handle bar with soft-touch rubber handles
  • TPR rubber surface footplate
  • Back foot brake

After many rainy days of trying to ride the scooter in the house, he finally got to put on his helmet and try it outside.

Watching Taylor go from nervously pushing the scooter alongside himself to scooting down the street. I could see his confidence building.

Taylor has struggled a little with the handlebar height. Which on this particular model doesn’t adjust, although this hasn’t stopped him from enjoying it. It won’t be long before he shoots up in height again so the T2 wouldn’t have lasted as long. The T3 is right for his age range and will suit his needs the most.

The handle bars have been grippy enough for him as has the foot plate giving me confidence that he’s less likely to slip. He has yet to master what the foot brake is for and opts for falling, without style, although he is still learning.

I can’t wait for more outdoor adventures with Taylor as the weather becomes a little warmer. Watching him develop new skills is one of the most rewarding parts of being a parent. He’s also at an age where he is really fun to be around.

What’s you’re favourite outdoor activity with the little ones?

The Smartrike T3 Scooter retails for £49.99at leading UK retailers and is currently on offer for £39.99 at Smyths!
