Taylor's Nursery Decor

Before Taylor was born I did what most pregnant women do, I spent months deciding on a theme for his nursery. Between the nesting and nausea I was a woman on a mission to create the perfect space for our precious first born.

I may be a designer but interiors has never been my forte. The internet is awash with Nursery Ideas and current trends from monochrome to multicolour.

Deciding on a theme was difficult and we opted for a popular packaged nursery set. Although if I were to do it all again I think I’d try for a more personal approach and piece together my own.

Furniture

Taylor’s furniture set is the Hayworth 3-piece-set from mamas & papas in walnut. Consisting of cot bed, wardrobe and changing table. Many people told us tobuy a full size wardrobe and not a toddler one, which makes sense. But his tiny wardrobe is so cute I fell into the trap. Do I regret it? No. It’s the cutest. People also advised us not to bother with a changing table. OK, maybe we haven’t used ours as often as we could have but it’s definitely nice to have. More so for the convenience of it also being a chest of drawers. I wouldn’t have invested one that only serves as a changing table.

Bedding & Accessories

We chose the Timbuktales range from mamas & papas to theme Taylor’s nursery. After comparing many alternatives we found their designs and quality were better than others. This particular set is bright and colourful without being too babyish. We purchased the matching curtains which I love as they’re subtle but bring the room together. At whopping £300+ for the various items it’s not a cheap range to shop from but we love it.

Decoration

Bringing everything together in the room is the feature wall, decorated with Timbuktales wallpaper. You can find everything to match this range! It may have been difficult to hang but it looks great. We also applied the Patternology tree to one of the walls and matching bunting.

I love Taylor’s nursery, it was the perfect space to bring him home to. Granted he never slept in there until he was 8 months old as we used a Snuzpod in our room. We still spent nap time, play time and tummy time in there each day to familiarise him with the space. And he was happy to sleep there when the time came.
Looking for nursery inspiration can be daunting. I found the best way to collate nursery ideas was to pin them, I can still go back now 14 months on and see my inspiration board.

Do you have a set theme or board of inspiration for yours?

  • You’re right, the little wardrobe is really cute! And such good quality too. I had a set with a changing table but it wasn’t a chest of drawers like yours so it just got wasted. I didn’t really have a theme for my son’s nursery as he didn’t have one for ages as my stepson unexpectedly moved in so he had the room that would have been the nursery. So by the time I did get to have one I just went for calm muted tones and flashes of turquoise x

Ahhh what a gorgeous space you have created! I have a rocking chair similar to that in E’s nursery and I adore it – it makes night feeds so much more comfortable so me. We went with something fairly neutral with a rose coloured strip across one wall – I love it xx

This is a beautiful room. I love the colour scheme. The wallpaper is my fave part. We have a safari theme for baby girls room x

  • That is a perfect room. So many cute things to look at and I really adore your choice of colours.

His room is beautiful! We went for a woodland theme in Toby’s but to be honest it’s very minimalist, it’s such a small room you can’t fit much in there!xx

I LOVE it! A beautiful room, I love the colours you have chosen and the star wallpaper is fantastic. Good choice!
