A nice-to-have newborn baby wishlist

Although I’m not new to this, having a baby is still a pretty big deal. And for many of you, it may be your first time. You’ll be bombarded with what you do and don’t need.

So taking that into consideration and honing in on my experience of having had one child already I’ve been compiling a newborn wishlist.

Not your typical bare minimum essentials, no. Although I will get to that in the coming weeks! But the things that are nice to have. The things that make life that little bit easier if you’re willing to invest in them.

Some may say, “you don’t need that” and in some instances, they’re probably right. But it doesn’t mean you can’t want them right? These are the type of baby products that have longevity too. They hold their value and will last for multiple babies and best of all they actually serve a purpose that is essential. So if this is your first and you plan to have more it’s the best time to invest.

1. Snuzpod £199.95

At number one I have the Snuzpod, this is something we did invest in with baby #1. It’s tucked away in our garage awaiting baby’s arrival. Our Snuzpod is the original white one bought in 2014 so I imagine it will need some TLC once unpacked. They now have a whole array of beautiful colours to choose from too. See, longevity. The Snuzpod was by far my favourite baby purchase, It made settling in at home easier and it lasted Little Fox until he was 10 months old.

2. Joie Dreamer £59

The Joie dreamer is a lightweight compact bouncer with lullaby and vibration functions. We had a rather bulky and heavy bouncer with Little Fox that didn’t do much for him. We already have this bouncer from Kiddies Kingdom awaiting baby’s arrival and I cannot wait to test it out with a tiny human inside! This bouncer will be easy for us to pop into the car when going to visit family for the day. It also looks clean and modern with its grey melange textiles and neutral star print so it will fit in with our decor perfectly. A great place to pop baby down whilst entertaining their big brother!

3. Doona £279.99

The Doona Group 0+ infant car seat is a car seat like no other. It has wheels! Giving you the ability to pop the handle and stroll without moving your precious newborn from their car seat or having to set up your pushchair chassis. This would make quick outings with a newborn and toddler a fuss free dream!

4. Stokke Tripp Trapp Newborn set £75

We love the Stokke Tripp Trapp, Little Fox still uses his. We never had one when he was a baby though he was already in the midst of toddlerdom. The newborn set allows you to use your tripp trapp and keep your newborn up high at the table during family mealtimes. Or whilst you’re pottering about in the kitchen. Probably ideal for stopping the toddler from disturbing them too.

5. Sleepyhead Deluxe £135

I love the sleepyhead, it may not be the cheapest of baby nest out there but it’s one of few that approved for overnight sleeping. Little Fox got the Sleepyhead Grand when he moved into his full size cot at 9 months old and he still uses it now at almost 3 years old. We’ve never purchased a bed guard. If the deluxe is anything like the grand then baby #2 will be sleeping soundly in their snuzpod with this addition.

6. Kerikit Joy XL leather changing bag £295

The Joy Xl is a luxury leather changing bag with room for all of your daily essentials. It’s also perfect for that transition from changing bag to office! It doesn’t scream mummy and looks luxurious.

7. Lulla Doll £49.99

Lulla Doll is a revolutionary baby sleep aid that mimics the sound of a mother heartbeat. Unlike many sleep aids Lulla will play continuously for 8 hours soothing your little one and hopefully fooling them into thinking you’re still closeby! It imitates closeness to a caregiver at rest with its soft feel of natural cotton and soothing sounds of real-life breathing and heartbeat.

I could go on and add endless products to this list but they wouldn’t sit as high as this selection, from my experience of what makes a great product whether it be high end or not.

These products all serve a purpose whilst being that little bit different and setting them apart from the rest, whether that be in terms of usability, adding a touch of luxury of simply their ability to fit into your home with their clean and subtle designs.

I really wanna try out the Doona – being so compact worries me but so practical for travelling and city living. They look cool too!
