Giovanna Fletcher, author of my favourite read of 2013 Billy and Me, has announced the title of her second book with penguin Michael Joseph. You’re the One That I Want is due for release on the 22nd of May 2014. You can pre-order it here right now.
The publication happens to fall prior to a bank holiday weekend so if you can’t devour it in one sitting (which I am sure many of you will) then what better way could you possibly spend this May bank holiday? Grab a cat (if you have one, or borrow a neighbours) and some chocolate cake, turn off the phone and snuggle up with a copy of You’re the One That I Want, I’m sure Giovanna would approve.

Not only has Gi announced the official title of her second novel but she also just dropped the C-Bomb, thats right, the cover has also been revealed and it is of course stunning!
The team at Penguin never fail to produce superb cover art and if Billy and Me was anything to go by I had high expectations, which they appear to have met! Doesn’t it just make you that little bit (…a whole lot!) more excited for publication day? I know I am!
Book covers to me are equally as important if not more so than the words that lie beneath them. That is not to say they matter more, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to write a novel and we buy them for the stories they hold, if it were easy we would all have one. Covers however go through many creative processes and their ability to depict an entire novel in a single image is astounding as this is the first chance a book has to make an impression on a reader and influence them.
I for one am very much looking forward to the publication of You’re the One That I Want. Giovannas writing is something that you can very much sit down and relax with, shutting out the world around you because you are so invested in the one she has created for you.
