Down London Road is the unmissable sensual sequel to On Dublin Street by best selling author Samantha Young.

Johanna Walker knows what she wants. And that’s a strong, steady, financially secure man who will treat her well and look after her and her little brother, Cole – something her parents have never done.

But when she meets the gorgeous Cameron MacCabe, a new bartender at work,

Jo can’t deny the instant and undeniable attraction she feels. Cam doesn’t fit into her strict specifications of her perfect partner at all – but for once she is tempted to let her heart rule her head.

And as their intense connection grows, Jo has to stop hiding the truth about herself and her family. Is Cam prepared to accept Jo for who she really is? And is Jo willing to let someone into her life for keeps?

Down London Road follows the lives of characters introduced in Samantha Young’s bestselling romance prequel, On Dublin Street.

My Thoughts

Down London Road is in a sense a sequel to Samantha Young’s ‘On Dublin Street’ which I have not yet read, the book follows a character who I know to be within the previous book but not the feature character, therefore this meant I could read Down London Road having not read on Dublin street and it didn’t really matter. Although I have been left definitely wanting to read On Dublin Street!

Johanna Walker is a young woman who to those that don’t know her can be seen as a gold digger, a whore, and a bimbo.
Jo dates a very wealthy man who is much older than she is, and of course he was a lottery winner. You’re already thinking of the nasty names I mentioned previously aren’t you? The pretty girl who dates older rich men… Eurgh! But no there is actually a lot more to this girl and her story than meets the eye and this is why I found myself enveloped in the story of Johanna Walker.

Jo is a very likeable character as beneath the exterior of her pretty face and rich older boyfriend Malcolm she is a hard working determined young woman who is looking after her family and protecting her younger brother from their alcoholic mother, she’s secretly a bit of a saint and very few people actually know about it.

Malcolm & Jo have a rather unusual relationship and I never felt that they actually knew one another, it would appear that Jo feels the same way. Their relationship is going well until Cameron MacCabe is on the scene and Jo’s insides go all a flutter just by looking at him. She’s never felt this way when looking at Malcolm and this sends her into a whirlwind of emotions and confusion. Cameron is a lovely charming guy who gets a position working at the same bar as Jo, working with him only enhances her feelings for him which she spends a third of the book denying. Come on Jo admit it, you want this man and you can’t hide it. Even Joss knows it!

Overall this book is great, it kept me interested and I love it when a book has you so sucked in that you’re eagerly awaiting the long and tedious train home from work just so you can find out what’s going to happen next. The book is a little saucy, it’s nothing on the level of for example Fifty Shades which is a little crazy, maybe on par with a few scenes from the Crossfire novels?  It has it’s fair share of steamy sexy scenes.
The sexual tention between characters is apparent from the beginning and throughout, Samantha Youngs way of describing this to the reader is electric, you’ll certainly want to read more.  There is a really nice balance between the serious story telling and the romantic scenes, so It’s not too much that it would put you off if that weren’t the type of thing you enjoy in a good book.

Now I just need to read on Dublin Street and see what Joss and Braden’s story is…Working my way backwards!

If I were to choose characters to play Jo and Cam I would Select Kaley Cuoco as Jo, she’d have to be good at accents I suppose but she’s smart and funny and has the good looks just like Jo.

Cameron would have to be Chad Michael Murray, purely because he looks hot enough to be Cam right?
