Lucy Tilley dreams of a career in show business. But this isn’t quite what she had in mind …

This year’s Cinderella pantomime is the hottest production in town. What’s more, Lucy is starring alongside Ryan Aspall: famous TV actor, sex symbol and potential love of her entire life. One teeny problem – Lucy is tripping the light fantastic as … the back end of the comedy cow. Surely nothing kills a flirty moment quite like wearing a massive set of udders?

At least she has the support of glamorous (if potentially flammable) Charmaine; a reality star diva of a Cinderella, who Lucy is completely fascinated by. But behind the fame and beauty, Charmaine is not all she seems.

With more drama off the stage than on it, and everyone

wanting to be star of the show, will Lucy find the confidence to make it out of the cow suit and into the spotlight this Christmas?

A Cinderella Christmas is a feel-good festive novella based around the theme of a pantomime and I loved it! If Lucy was going to make an arse of herself this Christmas then she didn’t need to try, being cast as the back-end of the pantomime cow did it for her.

Lucy is a lovely little 26 year old red headed dancer who loves the theatre although she is too afraid of being in the spotlight and chooses to take the back seat when it comes to castings, this is how she finds herself being the back end of the panto cow looking at the bottom of her best friend Ben for the entire festive season.

When Lucy meets Cinderella who is played by  reality TV star Charmaine she is in awe and finds herself answering to her every beck and call. Juggling work and her new friendship with a rake-thin botoxed injected diva is hard. When Ben tries to tell her he thinks she is being taken for a ride Lucy refuses to listen and is certain she has something special with her new friend, even if it does involve doing her shopping and cleaning up after her dog. Thats what friends are for right?

Lucy is a very likeable character who you want to protect and I found myself wanting to scream at her for being so naive and stilly sometimes! Surely she can see what an evil manipulative cow Charmaine really is? Obviously being star struck can make even the best of us do things we might later regret and Charmaine has got Lucy right by the horns.

Between being a skivvy to Charmaine and dancing around in a cow suit Lucy still hopes that the drop-dead gorgeous Ryan Aspall AKA Prince Charming will fall head-over heels in love with her and sweep her off her feet. Is kicking a heart-throb celeb in the face while dressed as a cow really the way to his heart?

Lucy pins all of her hopes on the fantastic Christmas party Charmaine is throwing, her chance to get close to Ryan, that is until she takes a turn for the worst. Nothing can prepare a girl for falling ill whilst trapped inside a cow suit mid performance and that isn’t even the half of it.

Can her Christmas wishes possibly come true when everything is going so wrong?

Verdict

Overall this was a really fun novella and Holly Kingston did a great job of getting me into the festive spirit. I found myself reading this book long into the night as I was so immersed in the characters and the story. Each character was really well written and I had not one, not two, but three favourites!

I just love a good romance novel and most of them are rather predictable, for the majority of this book I was fairly certain I knew where it was going. How wrong could I have been?! I just wish it had been longer as it left me wanting more. I think I might have a slight book hangover from this one…

If you’re looking for a feel-good  festive read that will have you laughing your head off one minute and gasping in shock the next then look no further.

Holly-KingstonAbout the author

Holly started her life as a child. When she grew substantially taller and learnt how to read, she decided that she’d jolly well liketo write books. Whilst at college, Holly had a slight change in her career focus and decided to become a marine biologist. On discovering that she sucked at science and that her future job was unlikely to involve monitoring anything larger than sea plankton, Holly went back to the drawing board and got a Bsc in Psychology instead. She studied with Scriptwriting North and wrote her first film, along with a number of shorts and a sitcom pilot. After several years of writing, rewriting, and hiding stuff for posterity on her hard drive, she sent her first novel to The Marsh Agency where she is now represented by Hannah Ferguson. She iscurrently working on her second full length novel and wondering how to lose the weight she’s put on whilst writing her last book. Her first book, A Cinderella Christmas, is out this November.
